Nutrients
Nutrients
Chicken is a rich source of many nutrients that are essential for babies’ growth and development. These nutrients include vitamins B6 and B12, iron, zinc, choline, selenium, and vitamin B3. They play important roles in supporting antioxidant activities, providing energy to cells, promoting healthy blood, enhancing the sense of taste and smell, and boosting brain health. Furthermore, chicken is a great source of protein, which contains all the amino acids required to develop a baby's muscles, nervous system, heart, skin, and hair.
Pumpkin is packed with vitamin A that can help in enhancing the baby's immune system, growth, and eyesight. Additionally, pumpkin includes other vital nutrients such as vitamin E, fiber, folate, vitamin B6, vitamin C, iron, potassium, and more. Carotenoids are present in high amounts in pumpkin, which are plant compounds that can be converted by our bodies into vitamin A. They also have antioxidant effects that can reduce the risk of cancer and address natural cell damage. The carotenoids' concentration increases with the pumpkin's curing duration after harvest.
Bok choy, similar to other cruciferous vegetables, is a rich source of essential nutrients. It has high amounts of calcium, vitamins A and B6, and vitamins C and K, which play a crucial role in a baby's growth and development. When combined with iron-rich plant-based foods such as lentils, beans, and tofu, bok choy's high levels of vitamin C can enhance the absorption of iron in a baby's body, which is important for their growth at this stage.
Onions are a good source of complex sugars and fiber. They contain all of the plant-based B vitamins, including vitamin B6, biotin, folate, and choline, which are crucial nutrients for a baby's growth and development in the first 1,000 days of life. Onions also have some vitamin C, which helps the body absorb iron from plant-based foods such as legumes and leafy greens. Onions have anthocyanins, flavonoids, and polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that are well-known for their ability to prevent and combat cancer.
